TimeSplitters Gold was a fan-made game based on the TimeSplitters series. It was first released on 18th June, 2006 for Windows PC using the Game Maker software. The game was first developed by Cob Shaw alone, until he formed TeamSplitters in late 2006.
After 8 versions from Cob (the last one being the v3.4), Llamaliker took over the reigns of the TimeSplitters Gold project in September 2007. At this point, the TimeSplitters Gold releases restarted at v1 again.
The game is a top-down shooter and runs from a .exe file made with Game Maker. In order to keep the game's file size as small as possible, the developers used MIDI music renditions instead of the actual mp3 files.
In its last version, the game featured 68 different characters, 4 maps and 2 weapons, all of which are unlocked by default.
