The Blunderbuss is more of a novelty weapon than a serious killer, but it can be used quite effectively in certain circumstances. The weapon only has one shot before having to reload, but that shot does a lot of damage to the enemy, and two shots is sometimes enough to kill them.
The best way to use the Blunderbuss is to blast an enemy, and then run away. As he/she follows you, you should reload, turn around, and blast him. This will usually kill him, if your shots were aimed in the right direction.
If you simply shoot an enemy and then wait for your weapon to reload, this will usually give him enough time to turn around and gun you down, so this is not advisable.
However, as with the TimeSplitters 1 Rocket Launcher, the player can utilize slow but sure continuous fire by holding down the fire button, making any reasons for reloading redundant.
You get an opportunity to use this weapon in Tomb, but it is recommended as a side weapon due to your alternatives of the Mauser Pistol and the Tommy Gun. However, the spread of the weapon's shot can prove useful when trying to behead zombies and mummies.
When "if best" is switched on, the Blunderbuss ranks as the 7th worst weapon on TS1, as the only worse alternatives are the Colt Pistol, Brick, TNT, and assorted mines.
Trivia[]
- Originally the Blunderbuss also had a dual-wielded version in TimeSplitters but it was removed shortly before the game release.
- The Blunderbuss was supposed to be in TimeSplitters 2, with its dual-wielded version too, but was removed before the retail version of the game.
